Hermel, P. and Corbel, P. (eds), Le management des évolutions organisationnelles et stratégiques, Paris : L’Harmattan, February 2013, 359 p.

Presentation:

Over the last two decades, the world has undergone changes of a considerable nature and scale. In the face of these changes, the theoretical foundations on which organisational management is based seem to be faltering. The aim of this book is to help outline a way of thinking that takes into account, in an integrated way, the main developments in business management today.

It is divided into two parts. The first set of chapters provides a direct insight into some of the recent transformations and their managerial implications. The authors address themes such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the renewed challenges of management control, innovation in services, as well as the opening up of innovation processes and the development of influence strategies. A second series of chapters then looks in greater depth at the frameworks within which organisational change is taking place: some authors integrate different disciplines from the management sciences to develop interdisciplinary analyses, while others offer a step back from certain strategic management tools and the investigation methods generally used. In all cases, the study of the major trends in current management, in terms of both practice and theory, forms the core of the discussion.

The book is the product of the cooperation of the members of the team of faculty members who supervise the Master "Technological, Organisational and Strategic Evolutions" (ETOS) run by the Institut Supérieur de Management of the University Versailles Saint-Quentin (ISM-UVSQ). It was edited by Philippe Hermel, Professor and Dean of the ISM, and Pascal Corbel, Associate Professor at the ISM-UVSQ.
